J1.11 handcrafted cold processed soap is a very special product. It has a beautifully vibrant handcrafted look, it feels great, and it smells wonderful. It is a world apart from its poor cousin the machine made counterpart. Our handcrafted soap is made from the pristine land of New Zealand famously known for its clean and green environment.
The virtues of our high quality handcrafted soap upon the skin are legendary. To produce our world class soap we begin with the philosophy that the finest soap can only be made in small batches. Stirring 45 kilograms by hand with a slotted wooden spoon, our soap makers blend science and art as they watch and respond to the nuances of the kettle.
The term cold process means that no extra heating is used during the soap making process except the melting of the solid oil. It is a very precise procedure and all of the ingredients must be weighed correctly.

We initiate each batch with the freshest of raw materials; an amazing blend of olive oil for gentleness, coconut oil for a dense lather and palm oil for sustenance, essential oil and natural ingredients to create a sense of well-being by blending it all together , to produce a vibrant range of delightful soaps inspired by nature. We know that to truly cherish your skin, botanical oils are essential. The end result is nourishing, gentle skincare soap.

Scenting our handcrafted soap is an important consideration. We work with high quality raw material and essential oil to create beautiful signature scents. Our palette of fine ingredients also includes a range of clays and minerals. Each ingredient makes a unique contribution to the finished product.

Skin softening glycerine is naturally produced in our soap making process. It is not unusual for manufacturers to remove the glycerine and sell it as an ingredient for use in creams and lotions. But in Friqueglobal handcrafted soap, the glycerine is left where it belongs, in the soap, creating a creamy product that loves your skin. Our handcrafted soap is soap in its true, pure form; therefore, it gently cleanses away excess oils and bacteria, but does not strip your skin of its natural oils. It nourishes your skin as it cleanses and moisturized, leaving your skin feeling soft and refreshed.

What you won’t find in our products:

Good things take time…a process called curing that stretches over a 4-6 week period. The cut bars are air dried in wooden racks where they are regularly hand turned. During this time the soap becomes progressively milder and they become harder and longer lasting. By being patient, we pride ourselves on a superior product.

Our handcrafted soap is a special product. Because it contains glycerin, it can retain more moisture than other soaps. To extend the life of your handcrafted soap, place it in a well- draining soap dish. Keep unused bars in a cool, dry place out of direct contact with water. Our soaps will last approximately 3 weeks to month for single use.
If you want to store your soap before you use it, store it in a dark dry area like a linen closet or drawer.

Manuka Honey is produced by bees that gather pollen from the flowers of the Manuka tree, which is indigenous to New Zealand.

Medical Research

Dr Peter Molan, Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Waikato, has proven the natural antibacterial properties of Active Manuka honey during a decade of research at the university’s Honey Research Unit.
In laboratory tests, Active Manuka Honey inhibited the growth of bacteria which causes many skin infections including antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA and VRE. Recent clinical trials at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, showed skin infections and wounds infected by “Golden staph” and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria responded well to Active Manuka Honey dressings.

Difference between standard honey and Active manuka honey

•    Standard honey looses most of its healing properties when it comes in contact with wound fluids. Honey also has high sugar content which can actually promote the growth of bacteria.
•    Manuka Honey has additional antibacterial properties that have the ability to destroy the bacteria that are responsible for infecting wounds.
•    Manuka Honey is stable so there is no concern of it losing its potency or healing properties.
•    Only Manuka Honey provides non-hydrogen peroxide antibacterial components.

Anti bacterial activity of Manuka

Most honeys are antibacterial in some respect. This antibacterial ability is mostly derived from Hydrogen Peroxide, which comes from an enzyme, added by the bee also known as Peroxide Activity.
Peroxide activity is delicate and unstable and can be easily destroyed by heat, light and water.
Total Active Manuka honey has another antiseptic agent that is much more robust than hydrogen peroxide and which can remain active against certain bacteria after being exposed to heat, light and water.
The special ‘Total Activity’- antibacterial property is not found in all manuka honey but in only a small percentage of manuka honey.

How is Manuka activity measured

Active Manuka Honey has been considered a remedy for many health conditions since ancient times. Manuka Honey is unique to New Zealand and contains non-peroxide antibacterial agents which can inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause slow healing wounds.
•    The presence of this property can be detected only by laboratory testing. The Total Active rating indicates the antibacterial strength of the honey. Manuka Honey with a Manuka Activity level of 10 and above is endorsed by the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. The higher the rating, the greater the antibacterial potency of the honey.
•    Anything rated above ‘total Activity’ 10+ is a rare commodity and limited supply.

Pigmentation

The colour of the skin is determined by the melanin or pigment in the skin. Melanin is responsible for giving colour to your skin, hair and the iris in the eye.

The level of melanin depends on race and levels of sun exposure. Melanin production increases with exposure to the sun, so it is vital to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Skin pigmentation occurs as the body produces either too much or too little melanin. This can cause dark or light patches or uneven skin tone.

Pigmentation affects millions of people everyday and can cause emotional distress and embarrassment to those suffering from it. There are many causes for pigmentation or uneven skin colour. The first step to minimising skin pigmentation is protection from the sun. Pigmentation can also be caused by hormonal changes, and in women, pregnancy, birth control pills and menopause can also affect skin pigmentation.

The three most common types of pigmentation are:

Melasma

This is a hyper-pigmentary disorder of the skin characterised by dark spots, blotches on the face, neck or forehead. Melasma is normally triggered by both sun exposure and hormonal changes during pregnancy.

Solar Lentigo

This type of pigmentation is often called sun or age spots. These flat brown spots look like large brown freckles and often appear on the sun exposed areas of the skin like the face or back of hands. Solar Lentigo is triggered by sun exposure and is very common in fair skinned people over the age of 60 years.

Vitiligo

This is a hypopigmentation disorder where the body does not produce enough melanin and creates smooth white spots on the skin. More commonly found in darker skinned people, it is unknown what causes vitilago. Some believe it is caused by severe sunburn or is a combination of genetic and immunologic factors.

A mild and gentle facial scrub that remove dead skin cells.
